La Malaquita is pleased to offer two lines of shoes in our boutique, for both women and men.

The first are our bespoke line of Espadrilles, which we make locally in Merida, both the traditional style as well as a version without sides and a gros grain ribbon tie. We use our own photographs, which are then screen printed on durable synthetic, water resistant fabric for us by our production partner, and then the shoes are hand made in the nearby villages of the Yucatan by Maya artisans. At this time, we offer three patterns: Malachite, Toreador and Riviera Stripe. More will be available in the coming season.

The second are a beautiful line of Turkish slippers, which we import from Istanbul. Each pair, in fact each shoe, is unique. They are made from hand woven flat weave Kilim fabric, a Turkish tradition dating back centuries. The fabric is then fashioned into the shoes in a classic and timelessly elegant style, with leather soles and stacked wooden heels. We order these three times a year, and we are able to make special orders if you cannot find a pair you like in your size.
