Description:  Vintage 1960s Tachi Castillo Jacket

  • This is a fantastic unisex piece by the “Coco Chanel” of Mexico, Tachi Castillo, whose atelier was in Taxco. She was the creator of the “Mexican Wedding Dress”, and her pieces were sold in New York, London and Paris in the 1960s and 1970s, and they are highly coveted by collectors now.  This is a very unusual piece in a fabulous teal green cotton.  It is pin tucked with a vibrant mint green satin trim.  It is in excellent vintage condition.  Tachi Castillo was one of the leaders of the movement associated with these splendid pieces from Mexico during the 1960s and 1970s.  This is a unique representation of wearable art from a specific period in Mexican history, and these pieces are becoming highly collectable and more difficult to find.
